On February 15th, Hurricane high school in Utah had the American flag cut down from the flagpole. An ISIS flag was raised in it`s place and graffiti was spray painted on the school saying “ISIS is coming”. Authorities dismissed this as a prank. On Monday, the same suspected student brought a home made bomb to Pine View High which fortunately failed to detonate. The bomb, which was left in a backpack in a common area of the school was seen smoking by another student and led to an evacuation of the school. The student responsible (who authorities have not identified) was arrested later that night. Police said “Based on our investigation we can confirm this was a failed attempt to detonate a homemade explosive at the school. It was also determined that the male had been researching information and expressing interest in ISIS and promoting the organization“. Once again the warning signs were ignored in an event that could have killed a lot of people.
