Syrian Refugee Charged For Allegedly Planning To Bomb Christian Church In Pittsburgh

21 year old Syrian refugee Mustafa Alowemer is the latest in a list of several arrested for allegedly planning domestic terrorist attacks. In just the last few weeks a 22 year old of Bangladeshi decent and a 20 year old were arrested and charged with planning attacks in New York City. In April Rondell Henry was arrested for allegedly planning an ISIS inspired truck attack at National Harbor, and in February Hasher Jallal Taheb was arrested for an alleged plot to bomb the White House as well as a synagogue. The case of Mustafa Alowemer is really no different from those in that he has been charged with terror inspired plots.

Mustafa who was admitted to the US at the age of 16 as a refugee from Syria, was arrested for his plan to bomb a church in Pittsburgh. The complaint reads that “According to ALOWEMER, his motivation to detonate a device at the Church was to support the cause of ISIS and to inspire other ISIS sympathizers in the United States to join together and commit similar acts in the name of ISIS. Alowemer also targeted the Church, which he described as Christian and Nigerian, in order to “take revenge for our (ISIS) brothers in Nigeria.”  You can read the entire complaint here.

Unsurprisingly this has not received much national media attention other than being mostly relegated to online articles, the same way that Muslim attacks on Christians worldwide are ignored.
